I wouldn't give that slob Moore 2 seconds of my time. As a registered Republican, but more moderate that conservative, almost everything I have read about this film makes me sick. Using snippets of sound bites to sway viewers, showing a funeral at Arlington without permission of the family, profiting greatly (without any hint of charity) is disgusting.

"shows how the Bush Administration used the tragic event to push its agenda" Exactly what agenda? Try to keep Americans safe from foreign terrorists? Sounds like a good plan to most of us. Maybe you should see if Whoopie is available to do one of her monologues before the movie.

OH MY GOSH! What an INCREDIBLE IDEA!!! GOD BLESS YOU GUYS! That Saturday showing for Republicans is GENIUS!! I read a comment just yesterday where someone suggested a free showing for everyone in the US on a given day. Of course, that would be nearly impossible. But you free showing for Republicans is the next best thing! I am just blown away by your incredibly bold and brilliant idea!!!!

I always knew the Campus was my kind of theatre!! Wonderful, wonderful, WONDERFUL!!! I'd love to see how many take up your offer. Is there a way we could get those numbers??? WE LOVE THE CAMPUS!!!

Gary

I am not happy that your movie theater is pushing your politics. This will be a consideration next time I think about donating funds. Mary Anne Fleisher

Greetings,

I found it very strange and a little bit suspicious when reading your marquee for a "Republican Only Showing"? Is this a joke or a set-up?

Subject: Nice gesture

Mr. Faden:

I found an article about your offer to republicans to see F911 free. That is a nice gesture. In that article, the writer said that you had some problems with parts of Moore's accounts. You are entitled to your opionions, but I wonder if you are aware that Moore had six teams of lawyers peruse the documentary for accuracy before release? And are you aware that to date, no one has "officially" challenged Moore on any part of the documentary? I understand that Moore has a website for folks who question the films validity and that he straightens out a lot of questions for the viewing public. There is one rumor circulating about the Saudis being permitted to leave the US right after 9/11. A journalist has proved much of it true, citing a private jet's flight records showing the flight [with Saudi nationals] leaving FL to KY and then out of the US. Richard Clarke even testified before the Senate investigations that he ok'd one flight, but someone high up in the administration approved other flights and that he did not know who was responsible. Regardless, I'd say that it was all very suspicious, to say the least.

I saw the movie and found that my [4 1/2 yrs. of research on GW Bush] quite true. There was no way for Moore to include everything into a 2 hr. movie... believe me. If he had, the documentary would have had to be shown as 10 parts. I have watched the whole thing through research 2 hrs. a day, 7 days a week, 4 1/2 yrs., and I think I know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, thanks for your gesture. Hope you get results from dyed in the wool
republicans who are in perpetual denial about their man.

i was just reading up the news on worldnetdaily.com and came across an article about your free showing of 'fahreinheit 9/11' to republicans. i think that's an awesome offer. i feel the same as many other republicans; i want to see the movie and know what moore's claims are, however, i don't want one cent of my hard earned money gonig towards him.

i'm from the generaly area (lebanon county, pa) but unfortunaly i'm away at college this summer, so i won't be able to take part of this offer, but i just wanted to congratulate you, and thank you what you guys are doing.

Hello form Germany.

I live in Schwetzingen, Germany (my husband is a civilian working for the Department of the Army in Heidelberg), and often listen to NPR's Morning Edition, which we get here at noon on AFN radio. To my surprise and delight, I just heard a spot about your offer of free tickets to Fahrenheit 9/11 for any card carrying Republicans willing to see the film. Way to go! Being a card carrying Democrat who will settle in Mifflinburg when we return to the States, I've been wondering how many like-minded souls I will find when we come to Union County. I have family in the area, and have often enjoyed films at the Campus Theater. I just downloaded your membership application, and will send it off to you today with our check for $100 for individual memberships for my husband and me.

Thank you for making my day,
Diane W.

Dear Eric,

I am currently sat in a bar in Southern Spain with a few friends. Whilst browsing the web we came across the article written in The Oregonian (Republicans will get in free to Moore's 'Fahrenheit 9/11' ). The whole bar (full of ex-pat Brits) would like to say well done and if you're ever in the area there's a couple of dozen pints waiting for you as everyone would like to buy you a drink!

[Editor's note: I like Guiness and Newcastle Brown Ale . . . ]

Politics is quite a common theme in bar chat over here as a lot of Brits moved to Spain after becoming disillusioned with the British government in the last ten years. George Bush has been a favourite topic of discussion since stealing the Oval office, as has America and its people. Owing to the lack of any voice against Bush the American people were more and more often tarnished with the same brush. At least that was until Michael Moore stood up to be counted and now other people such as yourself are breathing new life into the reputation of America and giving the rest of the World a slightly better sleep at night! Well done.

Thanks and Cheers,

From all at the Nip Inn

You don't know me, but I saw your story in the news and checked out your website. This is just a quick note of congratulations on your courage and generosity in inviting Republicans to see a film they emphatically need to see. I hope the movie - and you - are able to change some minds about the tragic course this country is being forced to take.

If I attend the free showing of Fahrenheit 9/11, will the Eric Faden be giving any money to Michael Moore and thus in turn essentially be giving money to terrorists that Michael Moore is in favor of since he is against the war on terror?

Thanks for your wonderful offer. I think all should critize this film but only after they have viewed it. Most of the critism comes from those that have not seen the movie and I give it absolutely no creditability. This comes from a former life long Republican. Thanks again for your contribution to free speech.

Wonderful idea to invite the Republicans--Are you aware that Moore has notes listed on his web site to show where he got the "facts" in the movie. While he uses hyperbole--no one can fake the vacant look in the President's eyes or the statements on "the have and have mores" or the "elite being his base". You are right we need to engage in dialogue...Good Luck!!! Estelle G.

Dear Mr. Faden:

As a registered Republican (but an independent voter) I can appreciate the scope of your offer to Republicans living near your theatre. However fantastic this film may be, the flawed content is what counts. Regardless of who pays, the money still goes to Mr. Moore. Oh yes, there is one more thing that is extremely important, you don't have to remove the lid of a garbage can to determine the contents of the can.

Sincerely,

Jack H.

Mr. Faden:

Being a resident of Tennessee, I will be unable to attend your "Republicans Only" screening of Fahrenheit 9/11. However, even if I lived across the street from your theater, I would not attend.

No debate about the film is necessary. I have never read Mein Kampf but there is certainly no debate that it is the documented rantings of a lunatic failure. Nor have I read Das Capital or The Communist Manifesto. However, there is no debate that both publications put forth the flawed economic and social theories of a liberal revolutionary that have failed to materialize after, roughly, 150 years. Why debate a film that will have no lasting value as a benchmark in political or film history (other than the "awards" given by the people of questionable ethics, morals and ideals in the motion picture industry)? I do not need to attend a screening, free or not, to recognize the film as nothing more than a failed comedian and B movie directors misguided attempt at propaganda.

The article I read about your offer described you as "ambivalent" about the film (Associated Press, July 15). However, your organization's website promotes the film as "how the Bush administration used the tragic event to push its agenda." Your ambivalence appears to be misquoted or a gross exaggeration on your part. Perhaps you could be as ambivalent about your coming attraction, Super Size Me by offering all thin people free admission to spark debate about obesity in America and around the world. Pointless? Absolutely. So is your "Republicans Only"screening of Fahrenheit 9/11.

I read about your offer to have a special screening for conservatives to come see this 'movie' (not a documentary). The article said that you were ambivalent about the accuracy of the film. That may be the case, but did you make a similar offer when The Passion of the Christ was released? It too was a very controversial film, potentially divisive and definitely attracted a select market - Christians. If not, then I must question your true motives.

The offer may be well-intended, but the best course would have been to not show Moore's film to begin with. Fahrenheit 9/11 has nothing positive to say to the majority of Americans who do not want our President and the office he represents maligned in such a vicious way. Local chains in my area declined to carry this film and as a result I shifted my allegiance from a more popular theater to this other theatre chain. I may not be in your market area, but I suspect there are patrons there who feel the same way I do.

Had you refused to screen Fahrenheit 9/11, you could have justified not screening The Passion and been respected for both decisions. The only similarities between the two films are that they are controversial. You left one filled with shame and hope, the other you leave with shame and hatred. You have the power to affect the lives of Americans in your community. Please use it wisely.
Thank you.

Larry M.
